Shell and Tube
Mezzo’s cylindrical shell-and-tube microtube heat exchangers provide compact, high performance solutions for a variety of applications. Shell and tube designs have been produced to meet the needs of a wide array of products including intercoolers, oil coolers, recuperators for high-pressure CO 2 power plants, condensers and evaporators, etc.
- Mezzo’s microtube cores often utilize an "annular" core, where shell side passes are made radially inwards and outwards. This baffling approach is advantageous with microtube heat exchangers and is different from baffling approaches normally utilized with shell-and-tube heat exchangers that use much larger diameter tubes.
- Microtube shell-and-tube heat exchanger designs exist for intercoolers, a wide variety of liquid-liquid heat exchangers, condensers and evaporators, recuperators, etc.
- Mezzo’s version of a shell and tube heat exchanger is currently being used across a wide array of operating conditions. For example, a recuperator is currently being designed for an extremely aggressive combination of high pressure and high temperature (3500 psi, 800 C).
- Mezzo microtube heat exchangers are compact and usually afford weight savings.
